Black Cab Sessions

It's a simple idea really. One that most music fanatics probably wish they'd thought of [or had the guts to think it would work] first.

Take an iconic London taxi, a talented band or artist, and some questionable handheld camera skills, and you've got what has now become an international showcase for both popular and obscure talent: Black Cab Sessions.

But what started as just another 'simple idea' has now become a worldwide venture, taking the producers of this unique internet hit overseas to film sessions in the USA. Not only that, but the outcome will take a different route too: away from their internet site, and onto the television screens of many eager documentary viewers.

Whether the documentary, of which the launch date is yet to be confirmed, will be a shining success is something that waits to be seen. After all, the appeal of Black Cab Sessions has always been its intimacy, and though one can no longer call its site undiscovered, it's humble beginnings still echo proudly throughout not only the webpage itself, but also its loyal music community.

One thing that is certain however, is that the producers behind this endeavour and its new adventure have secured the cooperation of bands and artists who, at those very 'humble beginnings' may have been much less likely to show such enthusiasm. From the likes of Jack White to John Legend, the USA sessions certainly seem to promise great talent and a fresh direction.

But for those loyal fans that have followed the project from its 2007 start, it will be just that: a project. A matured light-bulb moment that will, at its greatest point, be a talent-fuelled cab ride around the city of London.

Simple.
